Carema is a fairly small appellation in Turin, producing Nebbiolo at altitude. The valley basin suffered from drought in 2017, however the vineyards are located on terraces at around 750 metres above sea level and their proximity to the mountains guarantee a good amount of rainfall almost every year. This Riserva is delicious on the nose, full of violet and iris, intense red currants and a slightly stony minerality in depth. The tannins are slightly chalk and the acid firm; a wine more on the bones than on the meat, yet balanced and overall elegant.
